About Program

The program aims to do scientific research and analysis on the Political Science as well as to contribute into training of researchers with expertise in Turkish and world politics. The program is taught under the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the Graduate School of Social Sciences. Courses at this program are offered by the faculty members who are associated with the disciplines of Constitutional Theory, Political Behavior, Political Theory, Sociology and Turkish Political History which are taught at the department of Social and Political Sciences. The Master’s program consists of two parts, namely thesis and non-thesis. The Master’s degree (with thesis) requires at least 7 courses and a seminar course which have to include at least 21 credits. The Master’s degree (without thesis) requires at least 10 courses and a term project which have to include 30 credits.

Aıms Of Program

The program primarily aims to deepen the knowledge of the students gained through the undergraduate education, and to improve the abilities of research and academic communication. It also aims to provide students a scientific basis in order to understand Turkish and world politics better, and specialize in different fields. Thus, a substantial curriculum is offered in the fields of history of political thought, political theories, theories of state, Turkish political life, constitutional law, sociology and political anthropology. Within this context students deepen their knowledge theoretically and practically within the field of Political Science and they acquire a good knowledge of new concepts, theories and practices. They tackle with approaches of different disciplines towards Political Science aiming to do analysis with an interdisciplinary perspective. Besides, they can independently pursue research that requires expertise in this field. Graduate students have variable fields of employment such as; universities, public service, NGOs and international organizations, private sector, think-tanks and research institutes.

About Program

The Integrated PhD program requires at least 14 courses and two seminar courses which have to include 42 credits.

About Program

The program taught under the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the Institute of Social Sciences. This program aims to provide the students that have undergraduate backgrounds not only of Political Science and Public Administration but also of various disciplines with the ability of studying and doing research on administrative issues as structure and functions of state organization, administration fact, related ‘public’. Administrative Sciences Master and Doctorate Programs launched in 1993. Administrative Science Postgraduate Program provides necessary inputs from economics politics, history fields and it focuses to analyse administrative facts and processes. In this context subject are opened to provide students that develop knowledges about theory and method issues; learn administrative behaviours, power and authority issues; expand research abilitiy with regard administrative process as planning and reform, institutional dimension such as bureaucracy, civil administration system, regulatory agencies. Subjects can be strengthened choosing subjects of  other postgraduate programs as local governments and state theories. Compulsory subjects are Public Administration Discipline Issues, Public Organisation, Turkish Administrative History, Structural and Functional Issues of Public Administration, Public Personnel System, Modern Administrative Theories, Bureaucracy and Bureaucratic Elite, Public Administration and Reform. In addition to subjects, there are also seminars provided to deepen a specific matter.

 Goals

The program provides necessary inputs from economics, public finance, politics and history fields and it allows to analyse administrative facts and processes. The program aims to develop capacity of students to access knowledge; evaluate and interpret knowledge. In this context this program aims to develop  knowledges about theory and method issues; learn administrative behaviours, power and authority issues; expand research ability with regard administrative process as planning and reform, institutional dimension as bureaucracy, civil administration system, regulatory agencies. Also it targets that students acquire a critical perspective using academic knowledges and skills.

Employment Area

Graduates can work at universities, public service, NGOs and international organizations, private sector, think-tanks and research institutes.

About Urban And Envıronmental Scıences

This programme consists of master and doctorate courses that contains the studies about urbanization, environmental sciences and local administration as a whole. It contains 23 courses and 3 seminars which covers local administration, urban studies and environmental problems and policies. Our programme which is a disciplinary in the department of Political Science and Public Administration presents a unique curriculum that enables to makeacademik studies. The Master’s Programme (with thesis) requires at least 7 courses, a seminar which have to include at least 21 national and 120 ECTS credits. The PhD Programme also requires at least 7 courses and a seminar that includes at least 21 national and 240 ECTS credits and other learning activities, a proficiency test, an essay that is publicated in a national or international refereed journal and the proposal and study of thesis.
