About the Programme

“The Sea and Maritime Law” Master’s Program without Graduation Thesis (English – Evening Education) started in 2018-2019 Academic Year. The Program aims to train persons to qualify in general the sea and maritime law and especially in the International Law of the Sea, Maritime Law, and Maritime Security Law. All the lectures in the Program are held in English.

Within the scope of the program, students will be able to understand and have theoretical and practical knowledge on the basic principles of international law of the sea, the flagging of ships and ship registers, the legal regime of the straits used for international navigation, the Turkish Straits, port state control, global challenges to maritime security, maritime accidents, liability and compensation issues due to marine pollution in the light of international conventions, limitation of liability under the 1976 LLMC Convention, enforcement of maritime claims under international conventions and Turkish law, charter contracts, basic principles of the law of carriage, protection and indemnity insurance for maritime law, ship mortgage and basic principles of mortgage, sea carrier’s liability for the loss and damage to as well as delay in delivery of the goods, bills of lading and other marine documents.
